9 individuals awarded “Meritorious Artisan” title in intangible cultural heritage

BTO- The provincial People’s Committee recently organized a ceremony to award the title “Meritorious Artisan” conferred by the State President to 9 persons for their outstanding contribution to the preservation and upholding intangible cultural heritage in 2015. The awardees include 4 artisans in the field of folk art performance of Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo (Southern Amateur Music): Dang Ngoc Long, Phan Van Vinh, Le Truong Ngoc and Le Van Nung. Five others include Mr. Cuu Lac who plays the Cham traditional drum, Mr. Tho Dong (a craftsman making the Cham music instruments), Mrs Dao Thi Sau with the Cham brocade weaving, Mrs Don Thi Hieu, who has upholded the Cham traditional pottery, and Mr. Thuong Xuan Huu, the man who has performed ceremonial events of the Cham Balamon ethnic group.
