The event was attended by Deputy Director of DoCST Nguyen Ngoc Hanh and leaders of Ham Thuan Nam district. Those 313 athletes come from the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria- Vung Tau, Lam Dong and Binh Thuan, and competed in a 6,300-meter course for men and 5,300 meter-course for women. Both races include the 2,300 meters climbing up Ta Cu mountain to finish the race at the hilltop of Linh Son Truong Tho pagoda.
After more than 40 minutes, male runner Do Van Tinh (Binh Thuan province) went first and won the title “King of Mountain climbing”, followed by Tran Van Cong and Le Tan Huy (both from Binh Thuan province). As for female category,Nguyen Thi Anh from Binh Phuoc province topped the women’s category to become the “Queen of Mountain climbing”. Second prize and third prize went to Nguyen Thi Thuy Duyen (Dong Nai) and Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung (Binh Phuoc). Finally, Binh Thuan and Binh Phuoc teams were ranked first in the men’s category and women’s category, respectively.
With respect to the content of the provincial Olympic 2018, the title “King of Mountain climbing” and “Queen of Mountain climbing” belonged to Tran Van Cong (Phan Thiet) and Huynh Ngoc Oanh (Tuy Phong), respectively. Besides, the Organizers also awarded a number of prizes for Men and Women athletes in accordance with each category.
According to vice chairman of Ham Thuan Nam district’s People’s Committee Do Van Hoang, this prominent sport activity is a chance to heat up the Tet spirit in Ham Thuan Nam district and Ta Cu tourist attraction and exchange experience between the host team (Binh Thuan) and other teams from other provinces in the region. Through the sporting event, Ta Cu national histrorical-cultural heritage can be promoted nationwide and world-wide.
The event was live broadcast on local Television and was cheered by thousands of domestic and foreign visitors along the road leading to Ta Cu mountain.
