Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has asked tourism departments across the country to take prompt measures to ensure tourists’ safety amid the complicated developments of COVID-19.

In a document signed by VNAT Head Nguyen Trung Khanh on July 29, the tourism departments are requested to update local businesses and visitors on the COVID-19 situation while strictly following the directions of the Government, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Combat, the Ministry of Health and local People's Committees.

Hotlines connecting the hospitality sector with businesses and visitors must maintain regular operations in order to remove any arising obstacles and provide timely support.

Travel businesses working in localities with confirmed cases of COVID-19 as announced by the Ministry of Health must strictly observe regulations of functional agencies and take measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the community.

Meanwhile, other localities are being asked to swiftly activate COVID-19 prevention and control procedures for different groups such as tourists, travel firms, accommodation facilities, tourism service providers, and their staff as per documents promulgated by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the VNAT.

The VNAT also called for coordination between travel firms and tourist service providers in relieving difficulties posed by COVID-19.
