To prevent such ugly actions and preserve the brand name of Mui Ne as a friendly, cultural and hospitable destination, the Provincial Women’s Union has launched a model of “friendly foreign-language speaking women” (a group, in short) in Mui Ne ward since 2014.
The group was attended by 40 women totally on the first days when it came into existence. Those participants are poor, illiterate and street venders at some tourist sites. The local authorities have provided those poor women with basic knowledge of foreign language speaking skills and trading culture to make them more confident in communication with foreign tourists.
The model encountered many difficulties at the first time as the participants are poor and low academic levels. However, thanks to the support of the local authorities and the participant’s patience and determination in keeping the local tourism image, the model is still maintained and developed. Currently, dozens of women wish to join the model, raising the total volume of model’s members to 50.
The model has so far helped many poor members access to financial support and loans with preferential interest from the local, provincial and national Funds for the Poor. Otherwise, they are trained in how to communicate with foreigners from many countries such as: the US, Russia, France, South Korea, China, etc., fostering their occupation and improving their earnings.
