A National Assembly delegation headed by Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien inspected the progress of major water resources and power generation projects in the south-central province of Ninh Thuan.

They toured the Tan My, Song Than and Cho Mo Lake irrigation systems and the 450-megawatt Trung Nam-Thuan Nam solar farm along with the accompanying substation and transmission lines.

The Tan My irrigation system consists of five dams on Song Cai Lake and is designed to provide water directly to 7,480 hectares of arable land and feed water to another system that covers an additional 12,800 hectares.

It will also supply water to several lakes and create a reservoir for power generation.

Meanwhile the Song Than project will provide irrigation water to hundreds of thousands of hectares of productive land in the districts of Ninh Son, Ninh Phuoc and Thuan Nam.

Since the Song Than project covers 100 hectares of forest land, the Ninh Thuan authorities proposed that the National Assembly allow the province to change the proposed usage of such areas in order to accelerate its progress.

NA Vice Chairman Hien took note of Ninh Thuan’s suggestions and asked them to submit a detailed report for the parliament’s consideration.

At the construction site of the Trung Nam-Thuan Nam solar project, Hien inquired after workers, engineers and experts while asking the Ninh Thuan government to address the difficulties facing the investor so that the project can be completed on schedule.
