Another COVID-19 patient being treated at Hoa Vang Field Hospital in Da Nang was announced as recovered on September 19, leaving only two patients suffering from COVID-19 in the central coastal city.

Da Nang emerged as a new epicentre of the second COVID-19 infection wave in Vietnam, marked by the first new case confirmed in the tourist attraction on July 25. Thanks to the joint efforts of the city’s health sector, most COVID-19 cases in Da Nang have recovered.

Earlier on September 18, Hoa Vang Field Hospital transferred two recovered patients to Da Nang Hospital to treat their underlying diseases. After all COVID-19 patients recover and are discharged from the facility, Hoa Vang Field Hospital disinfects and cleans the entire hospital to carry out normal medical examination and treatment for local residents.

The Da Nang Department of Health has arranged 50 beds each at the Da Nang Lung Hospital and Hoa Vang Field Hospital to be ready to treat any new COVID-19 infections.

Also on September 19, Da Nang Lung Hospital transferred two critically-ill patients, who are now free of COVID-19, to Da Nang Hospital for treatment of their comorbidities.

Dr. Le Duc Nhan, Director of Da Nang Hospital, said that the hospital has prepared their best equipment to continue treating the underlying diseases of the two patients, while making online consultations with leading health experts from of the Ministry of Health to provide the best treatment for the duo. In order to avoid any COVID-19 relapse, Da Nang Hospital has arranged a separate area to treat these patients, as well as isolating all medical staff participating in their treatment with regulations and procedures being applied as with treating positive COVID-19 cases.

On the afternoon of September 18, Da Nang Lung Hospital released Patient no. 1015 (a resident in Nam Phuoc town, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) who was transferred to the hospital to treat COVID-19 on August 23. This is the last COVID-19 patient with COVID-19 being treated there.

Doctor Le Thanh Phuc, Director of Da Nang Lung Hospital said that from July 27 until now, Da Nang Lung Hospital has helped all 116 COVID-19 patients recover after undergoing treatment. Since September 14, the facility has restored normal medical examination and treatment activities. Currently it is continuing to clean the entire hospital and is returning to normal operations. The hospital is tasked with receiving and treating patients with tuberculosis and lung diseases while also being ready to isolate and treat any new COVID-19 cases detected.

Over the past 18 days, Vietnam has not detected any more infections in the community. As of September 20 morning, the country’s tally remained at 1,068.

The country’s total recoveries is 942, accounting for more than 88% of total infections. There are only 91 COVID-19 patients currently being treated in health facilities across the nation, of which 14 have tested negative for the coronavirus once, three twice and 22 three times.
