According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Trung-Director of department of Transport, 4 districts (Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam and Phan Thiet city) have basically completed some steps relating to site clearance and compensation (legality, compensation and resettlement plans…). Up to now, 1,149 affected households have received indemnification (43%), with a total handed over land area of 612.3 ha (out of 1,175.57 ha, accounting for 52.1%). The disbursement level of compensation fund is valued at VND 890.8 billion (out of a total allocated fund of VND 1.353 trillion. Currently, 4 resettlement areas are under construction (Tuy Tinh in Phong Phu commune (Tuy Phong), Hai Thuy hamlet in Hai Ninh commune (Bac Binh district), Ma Lam township (Ham Thuan Bac district), and Tan Lap (Ham Thuan Nam). Muong Man resettlement area is expected to be started construction in some weeks.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Hai emphasized that the situation of compensation and site clearane work for North-South Expressway (section from Vinh Hao to Ham Thuan Nam district) have been on schedule thanks to joint efforts of the whole poilitical system and people’s consensus. He asked the authorities of 5 district/city to speed up solving other steps in order to finish compensation and site clearance and hand over land to project management boards and investors. He also urged the localities to boost work in building resettlement areas, intensify propaganda among local residents on the significance and meaning of this national project, as well as deal with petitions about support.
