At the event, which had the attendance of Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran Viet Hung- deputy commissioner of the provincial Border Guard, Mr. Le Van Chon-vice chairman of Phan Thiet city’s People’s Committee, the organizing board handed over 5,000 national flags and 500 Uncle Ho’s portraits to fishermen in Phan Thiet city. At the same time, 30 gift portions (worth VND 500,000 each) were granted to 30 households with difficult circumstances in Thanh Hai ward.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Tran Viet Hung emphasized that, each national flag flying on fishing ship is a marker to confirm national sovereignty over seas and islands. The gifts have been considered as an encouragement for local fishermen to continue clinging to the sea.
Mr. Pham Tieu- a fisherman in Hung Long ward shared that: “I was given a national flag and a portrait of Uncle Ho. I will keep those meaningful gifts carefully and always put them on my fishing boat to assert national sovereignty over sea and islands”.
As of now, the province’s Border Guard stations have presented totally 15,000 national flags and 1,600 portraits of Uncle Ho to thousands of fisherman in many localities.
