For many years, he has been in vanguard of every blood donation campaigns to save other people. He thinks that if we’re young and healthy enough, we can give away our blood to help others. Voluntarily donating blood to save people in critical condition is a good deed to contribute to the society. When seeing someone struggling with his/her illness to survive and the patients’s relatives’ despair to save their lives, Huy has recognized the value of each drop of donated blood.
Huy reminds his unforgettable memory when he directly gave his blood to a patient who lost so much blood undergoing surgery at Binh Thuan General Hospital. At that time, while he was waiting for medical checks before applying for a job, he heard by chance a doctor and the patient’s relatives appealing for blood donation of everybody who has blood type A. Huy knowing that he has the same blood type with the patient, immediate gave his blood without hesitation and the patient has survived.
Nguyen Van Thanh, a 53 year-old forest warden of Phan Thiet Forest Management Station is another example of donation blood. He is always the first person responding to urgent calls of Phan Thiet Red Cross Society to make unscheduled blood donation. With him, giving blood to save other people is a humane action which contributes to keep someone’s life and brings happiness to many families. Therefore, he has mobilized his two sons, friends, colleagues and young people to participate in voluntary blood donation campaigns.
In 2015, he and his sons gave 52 blood units for many hospitals in Binh Thuan. Especially, he himself has donated blood for 32 times. The two typical volunteers for blood donation are among many families with lofty humane gestures in Binh Thuan. The movement of voluntarily donating blood has been gradually developed and basically met demand for blood at many hospital and medical centers in the province. It is estimated that, Binh Thuan needs about 5,000 blood units each year for emergency aid and treatment, and nearly all blood supply has been given by voluntary blood donors.
