28/01/2021, 15:59

BTO – As the Lunar New Year comes, all the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin (AO) in the province together with local authorities, unions and the whole society join hands to organize a Tet holiday for AO victims. With the aim of helping AO victims have conditions for spring joy, welcome the New Year of 2021 in joy, fullness, and satisfaction.

Currently, the province has nearly 6,000 people infected and exposed to Agent Orange. Most of those infected with Agent Orange (AO) were resistance cadres, soldiers, volunteer youth, civilians on the fire line, and people living in the poisoned areas. The victims carry a terrible disease, inherited to children and grandchildren. Among them, there are many situations that fall into difficulties and exhausted by disease. Promoting the tradition of "mutual love and mutual love", over the past years, holding Tet for AO victims has always been interested and supported by a large number of generosity agencies, units, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the city. With all that help, it has helped tens of thousands of poor households and AO victims in the whole province to celebrate Tet in joy and happiness with relatives and families. Besides that, it creates more motivation for them to strive to thrive in life.

The "Orange Shelter" was awarded during the Lunar New Year to help the AO victims celebrate Tet with more peace and joy.

Mr. Tran Tien Thanh - Chairman of the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange / Dioxin said: Taking care of AO victims is the responsibility of the whole society. In addition to the preferential policies of the Party and State, this year, in order to help the victims have more conditions to welcome the warm and peaceful traditional New Year, all levels of associations have actively mobilized and encouraged for units and generosity organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to take care, support, and share difficulties to help the poor, and AO victims. Up to now, the Provincial Association has handed over 5 houses of "Orange shelters" to 5 AO victims living in difficult housing circumstances: Ms. Duong Thi Muoi (Bac Binh), Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Tu (Ham Thuan Nam), Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen (Tanh Linh), Mr. K'Kim (Duc Linh) and Mr. Nguyen Van Loi (La Gi town). Each house is worth 50 million VND from the support of the "Hoa Hoa Binh" Fund (Ho Chi Minh City); thereby helping the victims to have fun at their new home during the Lunar New Year 2021. At the same time, the "Hoa Binh Hoa" Fund donated an additional 10 cows and 20 bicycles with a total value of over 200 million VND for the victims who have difficult circumstances in Bac Binh district, Tuy Phong. In addition, the Provincial Association has mobilized and awarded over 150 gifts worth more than 54 million VND; It is expected that the Provincial Party Committee will give 20 gifts, 1 million VND each to the AO victims in difficult circumstances in Bac Binh district, Ham Thuan Nam. On January 26, the Provincial Association will hold a meeting with cadres of associations in districts, towns, and cities on the occasion of the year-end. Here, leaders of the provincial People's Committee will visit, wish Tet and give gifts to motivating officials of districts, towns, city associations ...

Lunar New Year 2021 is coming, quite a lot of AO victims have received warm and meaningful gifts. Although the value is not great, it helps them have more conditions to prepare for a more cozy and complete Tet holiday. It is also the sharing and affection of the whole community for migrant workers with the desire that they will enjoy the spring, welcome the New Year in a warm, peaceful, and happy side with relatives and family.
