This project’s goal is to promote advantages, valuable natural landscapes, and a diversified marine ecosystem of Hon Cau MPA, which is listed in national marine protected areas, to serve for tourism development, contributing to creating living sustainable livelihood for local residents and generating additional financial sources for the management and preservation of ecological Hon Cau MPA. Though tourism activities, local authorities will promote the images and values of marine ecosystems in Hon Cau MPA, as well as convey the authority’s messages about awareness and responsibility for environmental protection and biodiversity in this marine protected area to domestic and international visitors.
To ensure the sustainable development of biodiversity, the management board of Hon cau MPA has set a regulation on controlling the number of tourists to visit this site. Accordingly, this marine protected area only receives a maximum of 200 visitors on normal daysm 250 visitors during lunar new year festival and other national holidays. Particularly, on the occasion of the annual Cau Ngu festival, the management board will work with authorities of Tuy Phong district to welcome create favorable conditions, and ensure safety for fishermen from other localities to participate in the event.
