Hanoi expands pedestrian space in the Old’s Quarter

Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee has decided to test the expansion of the pedestrian space to the south of the Old Quarter from December 25.

This will cover eight additional streets including Hang Dau, Cau Go, Hang Be, Hang Bac, Dinh Liet, Gia Ngu, Dao Duy Tu (the section from Cho Gao to O Quan Chuong) and O Quang Chuong (the section from the street to Hang Chieu - Thanh Ha intersection) as well as the three alleys of Cau Go, Trung Yen and Phat Loc.

In order to serve visitors, business households are not allowed operate on the streets but for a few dedicated vehicles selling fast food and drinks which will be arranged at several junctions and intersections.

As planned, the expansion of the pedestrian space will be put into operation from January 1, 2021.

People who are living on the pedestrian streets can park their vehicles for free at the area under Chuong Duong bridge or are allowed to take them into their houses using a card.
