Deputy Minister of Transport urges  Binh Thuan authority to speed up the express railway project

BTO- Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong on July 12 had a working session with Binh Thuan’s leaders over issues relating to the North-to-South high-speed railway project, the section running through Binh Thuan province.

The North-South high-speed railway project will begin in Hanoi, going through 20 provinces/cities and com to an end in Ho Chi Minh city. Its total length is 1,545 kilometres with 23 stations. The railway section going through Binh Thuan province has a total length of 159.37 kilometres, running from Phan Dung commune (Tuy Phong district), through the districts of Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam to Tan Duc commune (Ham Tan district).

After hearing ideas and proposals from functional departments and the provincial authortity, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dong directed that, the express railway project must be implemented properly in order to explore the maximum of its effectiveness without any impact on the nearby residential areas and urban planning, ensuring its contribution to the future urban development planning. Mr. Dong agreed with the recommendation for building two railway stations in Tuy Pong and Phan Thiet as well as an additional station in Ham Tan district.

He emphasized that the construction of railway section running from Tuy Phong district to Phan Thiet city must pay attention to avoiding the projects under implementation, such as: titanium exploitation, wind and solar power plants, irrigation projects, etc.
