BinhThuan attempts to stop illeagal fishing on foreign waters

 BTO- Binh Thuan provincial Department of Fishery (PDF) and Thanh Hai ward’s Border Guard Station on March 20 co-organized  a propagation session to call local fishermen not illegally fishing in foreign waters.

At the event, PDF’s cadres gave participants important information about the situation of local fishing vessels and fishermen who have been arrested after  infringing upon foreign countries’ fishing grounds, the bad impact of such violation  as well as the significance of Vietnam to take actions to remove the yellow card issued by the European Union due to  illegal, unreported and unregulated exploitation (IUU). Fishermen also learnt about the remarkable parts of the Government’s Decree No.71 on management of activities of person, vehicles and craft in maritime boundary areas, Direction No.30 of the provincial Party Committee on urgent solutions to the management, prevention and termination to Binh Thuan’s fishing boats and fishermen violating foreign seas.

Officials of Thanh Hai Border Guard Station also guided fishermen to finish their commitment forms of not to violate the law and regulations while going fishing, especially not illegally catch and purchase seafood on foreign waters.
