BTO- In response to General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong’s call on the 20th anniversary of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (April 7), the provincial Red Cross Society has implemented many programs to encourage local residents to voluntary donate blood to save lives.

According to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan- vice chairwoman of Binh Thuan Red Cross, the Covid-19 outbreak has caused cancellation of many voluntary  blood donation campaigns, resulting in shortage of blood for emergencies and treatment in hospitals. Infection concerns have made blood donors hesitant to come to the hospitals for blood giving. To deal with such difficulties,  the provincial Red Cross Society has launched many urgent blood donation movements to ensure enough blood supply for medical facilities in the province.

As reported, 4,611 blood units have been collected in 2019, and Binh Thuan Red Cross has set a target of receiving at least units of 4,000 donated blood.
