The tunnel can shorten the distance between the two central provinces by 8 kilometers, cut the travel time by around 40 minutes and ensure convenient traffic flow between central and southern regions.

It is also expected to connect Nam Phu Yen Economic Zone and Van Phong Economic Zone of Khanh Hoa Province and contribute to the development of industry, trade and tourism in the central and Central Highlands regions.

The project, completed after 6 years of construction, was a key national project constructed under a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model and was executed by Vietnamese contractors.
