BTO - In 2016, Binh Thuan provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People and Orphans has carried out free-of-charge eye surgeries for 1,115 elderly people with a total expense of about VND 4 billion. Vision impairment and eye-related disease is a major public health problem, especially in elderly people who are  usually suffering from cataract, retinal detachment and low vision. Most of those getting eye surgeries are elderly people from poor households and families of social policy who are not able to access treatment in hospital.

This charitable activity, which is part of programme entitled“Bright eyes for the elderly” launched by Binh Thuan provincial People’s Committee, has brought happiness to the elderly in the locality.
