The event was attended by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Hung, former and current leaders of province as well as 350 delegates representing heroes of People’s Armed forces, Vietnamese heroic Mothers and revolutionary contributors across Binh Thuan province.
After two resistant wars, Binh Thuan now has totally 50,868 people recognized as revolutionary contributors, including 12,796 martyrs, 4,983 wounded soldiers, 2,533 sick soldiers, 2,752 revolutionary devotees who endured pain and suffering during imprisonment period, and 771 ones who exposed toxic chemicals. The Party and State have conferred and posthumously conferred 1,898 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and 8 Heroes of People’s Armed Forces.
Over the past time, Binh Thuan has well implemented the government’s policies in favor of revolutionary contributors. In five years (2012-2017), authorities at all levels and sectors have joined hands to raise nearly VND 35 billion for Gratitude Funds, which contributed to building and repairing 1,355 houses for policy-favored families. 78 sets of fallen soldiers’ remains have been repatriated and buried at the provincial cemetery, bringing the total collected martyrs’ graves to 11,000. Mr. Hung asked executive committees of Party hierarchy, authorities, departments and localities to timely carry out the Party and State preferential policies for revelutionary contributors.
The local government has set its target by 2020 to make 100% of revolutionary contributors’ families having living standards equivalent to or higher than the common rates of the community. At the ceremony, 35 outstanding revolutionary contributors were rewarded certificates of meritfrom the Government, Ministry of Labour-Invalids & Social Affairs and the provincial People’s Committee. Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee also granted certificates of merit to 30 ones for their exellent achievements in gratitude movements in the 2012-2017 period.
Earlier, the province's leaders and delegates offered incense and laid wreaths to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh museum-Binh Thuan Branch.
