La Da: Brocade-weaving village on the brink of oblivion

BTO – Brocade-weaving is a tradition of the Cham and K’hor ethnic people in Ham Thuan Bac district for a long time. Due to impacts of market economics, the craft is at risk of falling into oblivion, raising concerns among local artisans. According to the tradition of the K’hor people, women is the main breadwinner who support the family. Thereof, K’hor women usually habituate their daughters to the work at a very young age. A majority of K’hor women are fully aware of weaving fabric and clothing on their hands, marking the criteria for K’hor men when choosing wife.
