Phu Quy strives for sustainable green tourism

BTO – The People’s Committee of Binh Thuan province has recently issued plan which targets at raising Phu Quy Island’s tourism to become a green destination by 2030.

The projects will focus on the following major tasks: building technical infrastructure for tourism activities in fishing villages, upgrading local roads, the Phu Quy port and Phu Quy airport, purchasing high-speed boats and start a water desalination plant; calling for investment projects in terms of tourism and water sports.

Under the planning by 2025, Phu Quy is set to become a key tourist destination of Binh Thuan, which can serve around 45,000 visitors, including about 3,000 foreigners with an expected growth rate of 13.40 present a year between 2021 to 2025. Accordingly, Phu Quy has met all criteria set for a provincial tourist site, holding an important position in the south central coastal region. The locality expects to welcome 74,000 visitors, including 6,000 foreign arrivals by 2030.

Far from the mainland of Phan Thiet about 56 nautical miles, Phu Quy Island is known as a place with great potentiality in marine economic development, notably tourism. The island is bestowed a wonderful landscape and pristine beaches by the Nature. A number of must-see places include the Phu Quy lighthouse on Cam Mountain, Linh Son pagoda on Cao Cat Mountain, Trieu Duong Bay, Linh Buu and Linh Quang pagodas, Ngu Phung stone embankment, Thay Nai palace, etc.

The transportation to Phu Quy Island is now getting easier and easier, facilitating visitors to Phu Quy Island.
